Injecting traditional sartorial styles with drag influence, Charles Jeffrey clothing experiments with various ideas of gender identity and normativity. The Scottish born designer and illustrator launched his unisex brand in 2015 shortly after he graduated from London’s Central Saint Martins.
He funded his MA by hosting a weekly party called ‘Loverboy’, which brought the spirit of London’s nightlife into Charles Jeffrey clothing. Each season, the designer collaborates with a range of artists and drag queens, who all help produce his avant-garde runway shows. A celebration of post-gender ideologies and the search for one’s identity in such a world, the Charles Jeffrey Loverboy collection at odd92 exemplifies his willingness to toy with and manipulate convention as well as traditional gender constructs.
